Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker Conference Microphone
Acoustic Magic Voice
Tracker Conference Microphone
The Voice Tracker™ I Array Microphone was designed with two objectives. The
first was to provide coverage throughout a large room for recording or
conferencing applications to eliminate the need for multiple microphone/mixer
setups, which require expert installation and are expensive. The second was to
provide high quality audio for automatic speech recognition without the
encumbrance of wearing a head set mic or holding a handheld mic.
Pick up over an entire room is accomplished in
two ways. First, sensitivity was increased compared to conventional microphones
by constructively adding the output of eight separate always on microphone
elements. Second, spatial filtering and background noise reduction are used to
eliminate sound from all areas in the room except that space around the active
talker, so the increased sensitivity is not corrupted by noise.
As a consequence, the Voice Tracker™ I Array
Microphone can pick up talkers at ranges of 30+ feet in meeting/classroom
recording or conventional conferencing applications. It can work effectively for
command control automatic speech recognition application at the same distances,
and full vocabulary ASR at ranges of a few feet.
Scanning “Listening Beam”
Unlike conventional microphones, or first generation array microphones, which
have a fixed "listen" direction, Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker™ Array Microphones
automatically locates the active talker and electronically steers a “listening
beam” in that direction. It can steer its “listening beam” over a 360 degree
range, creating a wide field of view. For Meeting Recording or Lecture Capture
or Conferencing Applications, the Voice Tracker™ Array Microphone captures all
the participants since its “listening beam” moves from one talker to the next in
milliseconds. For speech recognition applications, it is no longer necessary to
sit rigidly in front of the microphone. The user is free to lean backwards,
sideways, or even move around.

Spatial Filtering for Noise Reduction
The Voice Tracker™ Array Microphone improves signal-to-noise ratios in two ways.
First, its digital signal processor creates a listening beam (like a
searchlight) that focuses on the talker and spatially filters noise from other
directions.
Second, its proprietary noise reduction algorithms filter out background noise
and reverberations that are present in the acoustic environment.
Ideal For :
Meeting & Conference Recording
Capturing talkers throughout a large room is a
challenging task since sounds from other people in the room, as well as
background noise, often obscure the speech. Usually, several microphones (with
associated mixers) are required. The Voice Tracker™ Legal Array Microphone, with
scanning unidirectional technology, enables full room coverage with a single
microphone. This makes a lawyer's job easier when trying to obtain a quality
deposition recording.

Audio and Video Legal Conferencing
The same attributes that make the Voice Tracker™ Legal
Array Microphone, ideal for meeting recording make it an ideal microphone for
audio and video legal conferencing. It can be used as an auxiliary microphone
with expensive conventional conferencing systems, or it can be the main
microphone for the coming, desktop based VoIP-based conferencing systems.

Certified Automatic Speech Recognition
for Legal Dictation
As ASR engines improve, dictation using legal vocabularies from Dragon, iListen,
Via Voice and others, is becoming more widespread. Many lawyers find it
impractical to wear a headset or hold a handheld mic.
The Voice Tracker™ Legal Array Microphone is so sensitive, and its sound quality
is so good, that it provides headset/handheld mic accuracy at ranges of several
feet, enabling headset like accuracy without the encumbrance of wearing a
headset.
The Voice Tracker™ Legal Array Microphone has been certified by Dragon
NaturallySpeaking, ViaVoice, and iListen
